Sweet Time Together

I began praying several months ago that the Lord would provide a protected time of discipleship between my daughter and I during the year before she turns thirteen.  I never anticipated He would so dramatically answer that prayer.  But that's the God I serve .  He is unpredictable and adventurous...challenging and risky.

For the last two weeks, she and I have been going through a character study book and having a great time of discussion about the things of our Lord.  She chose to study the chapter on "A Gracious Woman."  For an entire month, we'll study scriptures about graciousness in the bible and talk about ways to become gracious as Christ would have us.  How did she know I needed it as much as she did?

Today we talked about Mary and Martha...the famous sisters - one who pleased Jesus and one who acted like I probably would given the same circumstance (Luke 10) - not so gracious.  We also talked specifically about having a heart that is devoted to God by choosing to include Him in our every day and our every decision.  I never anticipated such a sweet time.

I have no idea what the Lord will do with my daughter or how she will serve Him throughout her life, but I know this time together is not in vain.  The process of discipling takes time and effort....and it doesn't happen overnight.  Each week I will envision water gushing upon the rock that is my daughter - making new grooves and smoothing her for the glory of God.
